My cupcakes! Real art for real food
 Modern Art cupcakes
I wanted to design cupcakes that had a very geometric, modern, primary-color look to them. If these cupcakes were people, they would be hipsters. They would not hang out with uptown cupcakes.
 Mother Nature cupcakes
I was going for a Fall, outdoorsy look with these cupcakes. If you're currently taking a botanical drawing class, this is a great way to practice your technique. And if you mess up, just stuff it in your mouth and try again.
 Still-Life cake
After years of art school, I finally perfected the still-life on a cake (using only gel pens). So has the drawing of the food become the food? As Magritte said, Ceci n'est pas une cake.
 Art Deco cake
I was thinking of Mondrian when I decorated this cake. I hear this cake later inspired the Chrysler building. I'm very honored.
 Butterfly cake
Julia was turning two, and every two-year old girl must have a heart-shaped butterfly cake to match her butterfly table cloth on her birthday.
 Glitter cupcakes
I had to make a whole bunch of cupcakes, and all I had in the house was blue and pink sparkly sprinkles. So I experimented with different ways to sprinkle glitter on the cupcakes. It didn't take a lot of time, and what kid doesn't like to eat shiny symmetrical food?
 Butterfly cupcakes
Free-hand drawing on cupcakes is not easy. I made 40 butterfly cupcakes that night. My hand was getting very tired. But my point is, you don't always have to follow a template. Get whimsical!
 Flower cake
This is the very first cake I decorated. I took an introductory class to cake decorating and was given an "outline" to follow. But I immediately started "icing outside the lines". That's how the fun began.
